The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been exploring ways to lighten the Transportation Security Administration\u2019s (TSA) rules governing airport travel, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem\u00a0told\u00a0NewsNation host Blake Burman at the Hill Nation Summit on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Noem\u00a0teased\u00a0a potential easing<\/a> of regulations on the size of liquid containers allowed through airport security in carry-ons and said the \u201cfuture of an airport,\u201d in her view, would allow travelers to essentially walk straight through security.<\/p>\n Noem\u2019s remarks came shortly after the TSA announced it would allow\u00a0travelers\u00a0to keep their shoes on<\/a> during security screening.\u00a0<\/p>\n She claimed that since Day 1, she started \u201cquestioning everything TSA does.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n It\u2019s not clear when new changes, if any, would be\u00a0announced or what their implementation<\/a> would look like.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not certainly anything we\u2019ll be announcing in the next week or two, but we\u2019re working to see what we can do to make the traveling experience much better and more hospitable for individuals, but also still keep safety standards,\u201d Noem told The Hill after her appearance at the summit.<\/p>\n
